The plot draws heavily on The Lion in Winter and the Plantagenet family, with the firm owned by the Broom family (referring to the origin of the name Plantagenet), headed by the estranged couple Henry (referring to Henry II) and Nora ( Eleanor of Aquitaine) and their sons Richard ( Richard II) and Johnny ( John) after the death of the eldest son Harry ( Henry the Young King).
