I had one of the most memorable experiences of my life – I learned a lot, in the most beautiful of settings, with a knowledgeable and encouraging guide who also happened to be great company! This portable unit now has fore & aft folding legs, that retract and fold under the stove for a compact footprint and easy transportation. The stove has an adjustable primary ventilation dampener on the firebox door and 2 rows of continuous steady-state secondary ventilation slots positioned on the sides and underneath the firebox. This allows preheated oxygen and air to be reintroduced into the primary fire to achieve a clean burn. A small stainless steel ash pan is easily accessible slides below the firebox grate for easy ash disposal. The adjustable primary damper is located in the door. There is no need to adjust the steady-state secondary burn, clean combustion is already optimized. Hello Todd, wonderful! Everything installed in my office glasshouse. Look at the pictures. I've had many beautiful hours here. The Chimney OD is 6 cm or approximately 2 & 1/4" in diameter.Closer inspection revealed that the range cooker being replaced was the iconic ‘Mrs Sam’ cooker with boiler. It had been installed new in around 1910, and given more than a century of dependable service. First of all its not (all) about squaddies drinking the (neat) alcohol, (In my day!) Brit squaddies drank beer - lots of it! (We left recovering neat alcohol from aircraft anti-freeze and boot polish to the Warsaw Pact personnel!) So my solution: I've been using a tealight candle holder (the candles slip right out of the foil outer) to focus the flame.....but a whole tab, or even a half tab will not fit in. So I've been cutting my tabs into quarters and have burned two quarters separately to consistently bring 0.5 L to a rolling boil. So I've been getting one tab to boil a total of 1L, which is really good. Using a half tab in a mince pie type foil outer hasn't managed to bring 0.5 L to a rolling boil. Had a great 3 day course with Neal and Brad who were the instructors , learned loads of good techniques on navigation , fire lighting , shelter building and loads more finished off with an excellent wee refreshing dip in a nearby gorge . This is the place to come if your serious about outdoor survival. Cheers guysNote: This stove is a recreational tent stove for smaller footprint tents. It is unrealistic to use this type of stove as your everyday primary heating source in large spaces. It is better to have a larger stove with smaller fires for heating applications. We also recommend CO monitors when using stoves indoors. Our large fixed chimney stoves have gaskets on both doors and stove. They are designed for residential heating and cooking.
