About this deal

Above left: XF 23mm f2 at f2. Above right: XF 23mm f1.4 at f1.4. Distance adjusted to match subject size. Focusing is internal, so if you use filters, you don’t have to worry about those moving. The thread size of the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 R WR lens is 43mm, which is the same as the 35mm f/2, but different from the 46mm thread of the 50mm lens. That’s something to consider if you plan on investing in all three of the f/2 lenses available. The aperture has 9 rounded blades, with its closest focusing distance of 8.66″ (22 cm) minimum focus distance. Producing excellent image quality. If not, keep reading, and you’ll get a much more in-depth explanation of the lens. Fuji XF 23mm f2 Features

The aspherical elements are used as part of the focusing group to keep the performance consistent between different focal distances/focal lengths. Giving you pure image quality in every photo. This means that it will provide a wide field of view, making it ideal for landscape and architectural photography. Additionally, the xf 23mm f2 has a minimum focal length of 2mm. This is good news for close-up photographers, as it means that they will be able to get close to their subject while still being able to capture a wide scene. XF 23mm f2 Review Lens Construction The weather sealed metal body of the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 houses 10 optical elements in 6 groups, and has 9 rounded diaphragm blades. This combination has proven to be very resistant to flares and ghosting when shooting in harsh light, and provides pretty decent bokeh for a wide lens. The Super EBC coating has been applied to different parts of the lens. This will help reduce the amount of light that reflects off the lens and causes problems with contrast and colour, which will help improve your pictures when you are taking them in areas with a lot of light.

Introduction

The f1.4 is also great for portrait photography, especially in studios. The extra bokeh may also provide stunning shots of events such as weddings. Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 vs. XF 23mm f/1.4 Final Verdict The minimum focusing distance is around 8.66 inches or 22cm, but the lens is very soft across the frame when focusing close at wide apertures. Shallow depth-of-field effects are accentuated at close range so for my next test I shot beer bottles (at Brighton’s Bison Beer shop), close to the minimum focusing distance of the older XF 23mm f1.4; I then roughly matched the subject size with the newer XF 23mm f2 and again shot with both lenses at their maximum apertures.

The Fuji 23mm f2 features an all metal construction that is light weight and solid feeling in hand. It just feels well made.

Ease of Use

The exterior has a manual focus ring, with no clear stop markings, and an aperture ring which is marked in ⅓ of a stop increments. Fujifilm 23mm f2 Image Quality As ever, this post is not a full blown review. I'm not a photographer who produces technically perfect work; I'm a photographer that shoots candidly and I see "the moment" as far more important than "the technically perfect pictures".
