La serie de las siete hermanas no me atraía lo más mínimo, pero resulta que LR había escrito un policial, allá por el año 2006, que, por lo que sea no se atrevió a publicar. Mum has not had that opportunity in the case of The Murders at Fleat House. As such, I faced a quandary when taking the decision to release this book. It’s a shame there will be no continuation to this series as I’d have loved to read more. If Harry Whittaker ever does decide to extend this into a series on his mother’s behalf, like he intends to do with The Seven Sisters series, I’d be keen as.Though she brought up her four children mostly in Norfolk in England, in 2015 Lucinda fulfilled her dream of buying a remote farmhouse in West Cork, Ireland, which she always felt was her spiritual home, and indeed this was where her last five books were written. Lucinda was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and died in June 2021. The Murders at Fleat House is the suspenseful and utterly compelling crime novel from the author of the multimillion-selling The Seven Sisters series, Lucinda Riley.

Riley’s eldest son, Harry Whittaker, shares how the book came to be published, 16 years after his mother wrote her first and only crime novel. Stephen Riley added: ‘Given the delay to the publication of Book 8 of The Seven Sisters series, Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt, currently being completed by Lucinda’s son Harry Whittaker, her family hope to delight readers around the globe with this announcement. Written after her youngest children had started school in 2004, The Murders at Fleat House is the only crime novel Lucinda ever penned. The Norfolk boarding school and landscape featured were heavily inspired by Lucinda’s own life at that time, and she was incredibly proud of the project. We are excited to be able to bring forward the planned publication of the novel as her readers eagerly anticipate the epic conclusion to The Seven Sisters series.’ I loved the story. Although I would call it a cosy in that there is no overt violence and it is not dark, it is nevertheless an engaging and complex mystery that challenges the police at every step of the way. It is set in a somewhat prestigious boarding school in Norfolk.

Jazz is likeable and relatable, and her ex is a total tosser who irritated me, but his presence gave Jazz the closure she needed to move to the next chapter in her life! I only wish there was more, but the last chapter is a pretty good indicator as to how things will go for her. Some might say that The Murders At Fleat House is the last book written by Lucinda Riley. But that’s actually not accurate. It’s the last book published by Lucinda Riley. Fleat House – One of the eight boarding houses of St Stephen’s School.
