About this deal

The Coleman Camp Oven is huge and very tippy on a boat unless you engineer some serious tie-downs for it. The heat from the burner also travels directly up, through the base and body via the central air column, and is trapped by the lid. Small vents along the side of the lid draw the heat down over the food, before allowing the heat to escape.

If you have never used a camping oven before, you’re going to be hooked after giving this one a go. Being small and lightweight there isn’t really any excuse not to add this to your collection. Whilst not essential, there are a handful of accessories that can go with the Omnia oven to further improve your campervan cooking experience. Silicone Insert This makes for even heat distribution. The manufactures claim this oven gives food the same texture as when baking in a conventional oven. I haven’t cooked enough to confirm this myself, but lots of happy owners speak very highly of the cooking ability.I’ve never recommended “baking” in a pressure cooker, as it is very likely to warp the pan if you use it dry, and using water in it means that your food is steamed instead of baked (fine if it’s supposed to be steamed, not so good otherwise). The Omnia Oven is a means of you still having all of your favourite tasty treats without compromising on space. All you need is a gas hob or similar stove top and you’re good to go. You can use it both inside and outside your camper, and it’s small enough to carry from place to place too. Make a cake next to Donner Lake, bake croissants on a barge in the French Riviera, and cook a casserole while you play a bit of footie in Montreal. The possibilities are endless. Storage Bag: Nice to have but not essential, this storage bag fits the Omnia and all its accessories and will help prevent scratches and dings when you store it. The Omnia oven is a stove-top appliance that sits on top of your hob, and using a variety of heat sources it allows you to cook foods that would normally require the use of an oven. All things considered, this oven is a really good investment. Like I mentioned earlier, having an Omnia oven with you really opens up a lot more cooking options. It makes for a great gift too if your friend/loved one already has a stove. I did not roll the dough at all, I just patted it into a round and cut out 6 scones, using a cutter about 2½"across.Duo Silicone Baking Molds– You will need these handy inserts for casseroles, bread, and all of your favorite baked dishes. remove the dough from the bowl and gently deflate with your fingers and then divide into four rounds and set aside on a floured surface covered with a plastic bag or a piece of clingfilm and leave to rise again for another 30 mins or so If you are making cakes then you will need the silicone insert as the baking paper is difficult to line within the base of the oven due to the ring shape.

They are slightly more done on one side than the other, my fault don't think I had it on there straight. Had them with experimental beetroot & red kidney bean veggie burgers with carrots, celery & broccoli. I also tried cheese scones, below left, recipe needs tweeking and rice flour scones below right, awful.I would imagine that you would not have any problems cooking scones made with normal flour. I'm sure any scones would work well in the savarin pan with it lifted off the bottom. It makes wonderful roast potatoes - crunchy on the outside - soft and fluffy inside on the top of the gas stove.

This oven holds 8” squared, or 2.1 quarts, which is more than enough to feed 2-4 people. It’s designed to work with any type of burner, so gas, electric, kerosene, or even a grill, you can use this oven. Bake your own favorites or use our recipes, some of which were created by Young Swedish Baker of the Year Jeanette Sjöö. If you keep it clean and take care I can’t see any reason why this oven will not last for years, so think of it as a smart investment. ConclusionA Dutch oven won’t bake as much as the Omnia, it’s hard to keep foods from burning on the bottom and the top tends to be steamed from the moisture driven out of the food (which has no way to escape). It’s compatible with the majority of the 2 burner or stand alone stoves I’ve reviewed. If you’re not sure however and can’t find an answer, drop me a mail and I will take a look for you. Guess what? They could not tell the difference. My experiment was a complete success, and I cannot tell you how excited I am to make these perfect biscuits on our next camping trip. Muffins
