Written during the covid pandemic, the book is a collection of the illustrations that author James Norbury shared on his site (BigPandaandTinyDragon. however, when flipping the book to the back cover, was dismay to find a sticker pasted across the barcode, what was worse is when the sticker was removed, it showed the book was for sale in the indian subcontinent only at 799 rupees vs 25SGD paid for.His next dream was to make money from writing books to start an animal sanctuary, but that too proved impossible, and every endeavour “came to zilch”. James Norbury has been living below the poverty line but now plans to ‘get a house with some land so I can start a sanctuary’. Feel the calming influence of Big Panda, who reminds us of the bigger picture while appreciating the simplicity of small moments. One of the factors that really pushed this work forward was after I started volunteering on the phones for Samaritans talking to people who find it hard to cope with life. I discovered James Norbury's creation a while back on Instagram by complete coincidence (I'm not a huge fan of social media so I rarely use the app) but I fell in love with the cute illustrations right away. but this one is contained of a journey (the reasons or destinations, were not quite mentioned) with small inspiring quotes. Big Panda and Tiny Dragon is a great read for anyone, be they five, fifty-five, or one-hundred-and-five, and is a wonderful go-to gift that inspires similar feelings of love and appreciation to those conveyed in The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy in 2019, this reviewer’s other go-to gift book!
