About this deal

The book has all the holiday feels of food and family and music, with a lot of Clarice's quirk thrown in.

Newcastle Fenwick Christmas window reveal attracts mixed

Maybe Clarice’s creative problem-solving—and some surprise help—can inspire the Tuesdays to embrace the holiday mishaps and enjoy a day better than anyone imagined! Lauren Child burst on to the children's books scene in 1999 and has since published many bestselling and award-winning books, including those featuring the hugely popular Charlie and Lola, and the Clarice Bean series. I wish they would just stick to one style instead of mixing different elements that don't really match. Clarice is a quirky and often hilarious narrator, but the loveliest thing about this book (as well as Lauren Child’s superlative collaged and sketched illustrations) is its warm-hearted celebration of sharing and families. Clarice Bean Tuesday (age 12), Minal Cricket Tuesday (her younger brother, age 5), who is a "maggot", Marcie Tuesday (her older sister, age 14), Kurt Tuesday (her older brother, age 16), her father, her mother, her grandfather, and her grandmother. The one and only Clarice Bean is back to save her family's Christmas in this sparkling story of joy, goodwill to all peoplekind, and some very Clarice catastrophes, perfect for sharing with all the family! This Christmas everybody will be looking for some extra cheer and we hope our contribution to this year’s window will bring just that. She is joyful and hopeful and energetic without being stupidly sentimental; she is funny and real in her disappointments and worries but doesn't give up.

Except this year it is going to be a quiet-ish Christmas in her house, which doesn’t feel right because Christmas is all about noisiness and being full up and FAMILY. The curiously clever preteen is back for “Clarice Bean: Think Like an Elf” for an all new Christmas tale for the ages. You can also learn more about Lauren and Clarice's world as she discusses her creative journey with broadcaster Clara Amfo for the next episode the ‘The Woman Who…’, Fenwick’s very own podcast series. Her books have been made into an award-winning TV series and have sold in many languages with runaway success. Think Like an Elf is a tale of the unwavering Christmas spirit of the beloved Clarice Bean as she navigates her way to a fun-filled, circus-inspired Christmas.I live in Beijing now but still always go to Fenwick’s window every single year when I’m home for Christmas! Es klappt nicht alles wie geplant, aber am Ende ist es doch der Geist der Weihnacht, der alles zusammenhält.

Clarice Bean: Think Like an Elf | BookTrust

An absolutely charming story for the Christmas season, and an essential purchase for fans of the ‘Clarice Bean’ series. Visually, the book is original and appealing, with drawings, photos, and colorful collages illustrating the story and the text printed in red. It seems to be a big hit with the kids and younger generation, with some kids standing behind me getting very excited to seeing the window. And without those things, she is going to have to try exceptionordinarily hard to stop the Christmas spirit completely floating away. Author Guy Bass introduces SCRAP, about one robot who tried to protect the humans on his planet against an army of robots. With a houseful of 7, one can only imagine how it feels to be a 12-year old girl around such a busy time of year, along with the pressures of school, and all the hopes, dreams, and wishes leading up to that fateful morning. She has won numerous awards including the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal and the Smarties Gold Award. It is the first time that Fenwick has worked directly with an author to design the window theme since the launch of the first Christmas window display more than 50 years ago.
