About this deal

I did not notice this initially as it was my only headphone at the time but when comparing with the Fostex TH610, I do notice it but not as much as others. Inline controls are absent here of course, as this headphone is a full-size model intended to be used in a home/studio environment, plugged into a dedicated headphone amplifier – there’s no 6. Open the packaging and you can really appreciate the solid quality of the design right from the start. Back in the day, modifications to the DX000 Denon flagship series often included damping of the cups and tuning the sound signature via different kinds of wood.

Denon AH-D7200 Over-ear Headphones Review | StereoNET

My opinion (based on available information, my measurements and my hearing) is that these are all different drivers. AH-D7200 always sounds a bit too thin in the mids, there is always a bit too little bass, and the treble is always a bit too bright, so I would get Zeus if you ever learned about AH-D7200 and liked what you read, but didn’t quite like them when you heard them. It's a good design that even with newer models could still probably use minor tweaks and polish to achieve what it's truly capable of.Based on my ears and quite a lot of tweaking / experimenting, I have improved the EQ settings a bit further (version 2 attached). With an exciting sound, the 50mm drivers still create some of the most detailed and spacious midrange I’ve heard from a closed-back headphone design to date. The detachable cables and luxury case for storage ensure the AH-D9200 headphones provide superior sound and comfort for years to come.

It's possible I am totally out of practice - with what's currently going on I have been super busy at my real job. This is a no-compromise design, and successfully checks all of the boxes for a luxurious flagship release. This surprised me a lot, and while I don’t usually get the short end of the stick, Denon seems to either trust their production process a bit much, or be swallowed by their own current size and success. This can leaks some sound but it offers great passive isolation, shutting out quite a bit of external noise. Its balanced handling across all frequencies means it suits a broad range of musical styles and is comfortable enough to wear even during longer listening sessions.Unique FreeEdge drivers cancel out unwanted resonances in the diaphragm to provide detailed, accurate sound. But this also becomes not critical over time if just listen and enjoy music, and don't try to compare with the original quality, these are not monitor headphones. it works in the area of presence with a slight decrease in frequency and from a medium high range upwards with a clear rolling, which in the overall tonal result leads to long-term relaxation without turning into a stale mold. Hard to come by definitive info though (not surprising, since a lot of companies aren't interested in revealing OEM partnerships). Listening to the old but still interesting recording of the saxophone (Bennie Wallace, Old Songs), the headphones demonstrated a rather direct, immediate, translucent image with plenty of detail and at low volumes, but with a small closed-circuit and shyness of tweeter microdynamics.
