I have to say that when I picked this up, I was instantly sucked in the atmosphere of the story and the world-building, very quickly you will see why it’s known as such a great gothic-feeling romance. As a series of horrifying events unfold, it soon becomes apparent that Verenmore is hiding a twisted past riddled with dark secrets.

Imagine me standing there smoking like Mount Vesuvius, because that's what I like to associate myself with when I'm frustrated and mad. Like i get that smut is a genre in itself and while that's not what im into and did not go into this book expecting to see, i have to believe that i have an issue with this book not solely because it isn’t “my thing” but because this has to be an atrociously bad example of it… right?Which in turn implies that anyone who does need extra support to parent—or indeed just couldn’t parent— for mental health reasons just didn’t mother hard enough. I’m obsessed…I didn’t have the biggest expectations for this read when I went into it, all I knew was cool-looking dark castle vibes, a hot professor, and mystery’s to be uncovered.

There wasn’t much that I truly struggled with, I don’t think it’s quite a five-star read, but it’s more than a 4 star for me. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. We believe that with your academic records and personal history, you would be a good fit for our institution. I could have probably binged this entire book in one night but I had to force myself to read it slowly because I truly did not want it to end.A parte gli scherzi, io sono una grandissima fan della teacher/student trope e qui è fatta divinamente. The hero already has fcked at least one student and I think another professor, so what's so special about the heroine? Everything and i mean everything in this book is at its best awkward/corny or at its worst downright creepy. Not only that, but the dark academia aesthetic it was apparently striving for was nowhere to be seen beyond needing a reason for all these characters to be in one building. It had taken her two trains—one from Ashburn and the next from Tenebrae—and over twelve hours to get to Verenmore.
