About this deal

Each tool is powered by our 12V battery and gives you the freedom to cut, saw, drill and more without being tied to a cable and a plug socket.

However, now that I have experienced what I can only regard as a premature breakdown, I am having to re-assess just how wise it is to invest in tools that have little or no after sales service support. I'm not annoyed its bent, I'm more annoyed it didn't live up to the build quality of the other cordless tools I have which are generally good for moderate use. Spares for Bosch jigsaws made 20 years ago are still available, Metabo are a tad less easy to get spares for. You have just been extremely unlucky, or perhaps have abused the flex - that's what the 'intermitant' sounds like it could be.The thing barely cuts, with any blade, and has a kick like a mule making it impossible to start at the right point or hold the blade on line. As I mentioned above, I also bought for industrial trucking and tray work which I now know wouldn't have been any good for. I've noticed this on quite a few other tradesmen's jigsaws as well (both metalworkers and woodworkers), so I know I'm not alone. The saw is powerful enough to cut most thing to a diameter of a 100 mm easy, it starts to slow a bit with bigger longer blades. Once loose, carefully remove the old blade and replace it with a new one, ensuring the teeth face in the correct cutting direction.

I have three jigsaws, a Matabo, 8 years old, a Black and Decker 10 years old and a Parkside about 5 years old. Now 'Workzone' kit at Aldi I've found to be a much better bet; interestingly a local (pro) tool emporium, nothing to do with Aldi's is selling Workzone kit as well. I filled two large wheelie bins full of timber I cut up from 8ft lengths 6" wide 1/2" thick into 18" peace's before the battery needed charging after hundreds of cuts but the tool wasn't even warm. The reason why there was a metal cutting blade fitted is when I boarded my loft out, I fitted the loftzone kit ontop of the rafters to raise the height up 200mm. Personally I think you get what you pay for - DIY tools 10 to 50 hours use, trade tools 200 to 1000 hours. I bought one from Lidl on the basis that it looked the part and assuming that it is only used for rough work it would help my ageing arms.
