Unlike the band's first live album, 1988's Delicate Sound of Thunder, David Gilmour and record producer James Guthrie have stated that no parts of the songs were re-recorded in the studio (Guthrie confirmed this in an interview with Pink Floyd fanzine Brain Damage).

I was a sophmore in high school when Pulse was first released, which is right around the time young lads (including me) started dabbling in Pink Floyd. Some of the tracks seem to have the drums and percussion set too far back, but others have them prominent as they should be for a PF recording. The firm holder for all the materials is nice, and the secondary sleeves are decent, but the printing of the book is not great. They look good but the records were sprinkled with countless paper particles (and a few finger prints).
