About this deal

It felt a bit like a Western, and a lot like a typical post-apocalyptic survival novel, except with robots. It's not often that I feel indifferent to a book for as long as I did with this one but then end up absolutely loving it, but that's exactly what happened. SEA OF RUST is a 40-megaton cruise missile of a novel – it’ll blow you away and lay waste to your heart . In addition to the Sea of Rust books he’s written two fantasy novels, Dreams and Shadows and its sequel Queen of the Dark Things. The robots fought for their freedom, but it was short-lived: now the world is dominated by One World Intelligences, massively powerful AIs bent on absorbing individual robots into their ever growing hive mind. The novel does not stint on action and violence, but what lingers in the mind are its brutal vision of a world cannibalising itself and the poignant questions it raises about soul and sentience. Pounce experiences existential dread, just as the pieces are falling into place for the robot revolution that we know is coming thanks to Sea of Rust.

Instead, Team Brittle make their slow, inexorable way in a straight line towards, mostly, what they were always aiming at. Like a mecha Mad Max, Sea of Rust follows a band of misfits fighting to survive against a scorched, barren landscape. The greatest philosopher ever to tick, TACITUS argued that humankind had, in fact, doomed itself by failing to choose between either true capitalism or true socialism. or escort Ezra to safety across the battle-scarred post-apocalyptic hellscape that the suburbs have become.I can’t imagine that anybody seriously considers Sea of Rust as a potential winner of this year’s award. There is a longstanding subgenre of posthumanity robot tales dating all the way back to Čapek (at least the epilogue of R.
