About this deal

When Turambar wakes, Brandir informs him of Niënor's death and of their true relationship as siblings, as he had overheard the dragon's words. Evil Overlord: Morgoth rules Angband and, by the time this book starts, has conquered a big chunk of Beleriand too. In that remote time Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in the vast fortress of Angband in the North; and the tragedy of Turin and his sister Niënor unfolded within the shadow of the fear of Angband and the war waged by Morgoth against the lands and secret cities of the Elves.

On the morning of Túrin's eighth birthday, his father gave him an Elf-wrought knife, but he gave it to Sador. The text of The Children of Húrin is in part compiled from these extant texts, and particularly that which appears in Unfinished Tales . It has been suggested that Túrin's character is not only shaped by Morgoth's curse but that he himself is also partly responsible for his actions. Together with Beren and Lúthien and The Fall of Gondolin, this is one of Tolkien's "Great Tales" of the First Age of Middle-Earth—one of the earliest and most elaborated tales.Húrin tells him to go back to Hell, and Morgoth finds out that his captive cannot be bribed, tricked, tortured or threatened into betraying the Elves. Húrin was the Man who dared directly defy Melkor and was cruelly punished for this by the mighty Vala. The House of Bëor is destroyed and the Elves and Edain suffer heavy losses; however, many realms remain unconquered, including Dor-lómin, where the lordship has passed to Húrin. His son, Christopher Tolkien, edited the manuscripts to form a consistent narrative, and published it in 2007 as an independent work. The talk between Húrin and Morgoth is a long string of Morgoth trying to intimidate Húrin and Húrin telling him where he could shove in his threats and boasts.

Surprise Witness: Just before Thingol pronounces Túrin's doom, Beleg brings in Nellas, who tells Thingol Saeros had attacked Túrin. Húrin and his forces, including his brother Huor, who is killed, hold back those of Morgoth long enough for the forces of Gondolin to escape back to their city.Everything Túrin does goes awry, all the good he does ends in evil, and he loses everything he loves. The second prophecy of Mandos (later removed from The Silmarillion by Christopher Tolkien) states that at the End of Time, Morgoth would wage a final battle against the Valar, the Final Battle, and that Túrin Turambar reincarnated would plunge Gurthang into Morgoth's heart and defeat him once and for all, exterminating evil forever, and avenging the Children of Húrin. Klingon Promotion: When Túrin first meets the outlaws and one shoots at him, he kills them by throwing a stone at their head.
