I found Wretched to be a badass dark romance that will stretch the limits of your morality, open your eyes to hidden depths, and will fascinate you with the connections to the Wizard of Oz. Dealing with the horror as an adult, Wendy Michaels manages to calm the darkness inside him, as he attempts to make sense of it all. I also think the way that this author handles her layers of plot and character build-up was quite impressive. Primarily interested in love and romance, this something that she clearly excels at, and will continue to do so for many years to come.

Then there’s Mason who’s similarly hiding behind an illusion, something which he shares with Lily, as the two find each other.

I still think a Little Mermaid would be interesting, especially from a dark, fractured “re-telling” perspective.
