About this deal

Don't shoot at point blank range – foam darts are soft, but if you get hit by them at very close range they might sting a little. This is mostly because the range is determined by how much force you can apply while firing it, so the kids couldn't shoot very far. Adults' verdict: Along with the X Shot Dino Attack Claw Hunter, this was the adults' favourite toy overall. Kids' verdict: Kids found this toy fun for a while, but it didn't quite match up to the appeal of other Nerfs.

It’s certainly not the most practical in comparison with something like a Stryfe or even a Turbo Advance, but it’s so much fun to use, and has the performance you want. The short range and repetitive need to pull back the handle to load up another foam dart became tiresome. Kids' verdict: Kids were drawn to the exciting design of this toy, especially because of the scope and the exciting pump-action firing mechanism. We bought every toy we tested and we don't take gifts so you can be confident that our reviews are neutral and free from bias. While these series featured re-releases of previous blasters, the Excel and Zombie series boasted performance upgrades around sixty-five feet. With a bright and colourful design, as well as awesome firing capabilities, the fun is sure to last all day long. AUTO-ROTATING BELT: As you blast away, enjoy the autorotating belt ensuring you have more time blasting away. Being a hip-fire blaster, accuracy (outside of dart type) largely depends on platform familiarity, but given how light the blaster is, aiming isn’t hard compared to something like a Prometheus or Titan.

It comes in the usual Xshot shell format (blue, white, and orange panels that all screw together), with nice details in the molds. Whether they’re racing around the garden or charging around the house, the X-Shot collection is perfect for active playtimes. It's not as accurate as the X Shot Dino Attack Claw Hunter but it fires further, so adults can still enjoy a slight competitive edge. Wear protective gear – getting hit by foam darts is unlikely to be harmful, except if you get hit in your eyes.We put up a target and used each toy gun to fire several rounds of foam darts, judging them on how firmly the darts hit the target, and how easily we were able to hit the same spot consistently. They found it easy to reload and fire, and the dinosaur eggs that come included make for a fun target practice game, too. Reaching on top of the gun to use the pump action was tricky for some kids, and they were mostly drawn to other more powerful and exciting-looking toys. It doesn't have the furthest range, but adults were impressed with how accurately this toy managed to shoot despite its rapid-fire style.

But reloading after every shot became tiresome and the adults expected a longer range from a toy that prioritises accuracy over capacity. The best Nerf guns and toy guns from X Shot have been a major source of fun for kids (and adults, including one or two at Which? Plus despite its low capacity and small size it packs a lot of firepower, which the kids enjoyed immensely.
