About this deal

I think everyone’s experience in life is unique–but I wrote so much about myself in the book, and I hope there is at least one chapter you can relate to, whether it’s being an immigrant, learning a new language, meeting someone in Disneyland, going to a different country, having divorced parents, and whatnot," he added. You’re That Bitch welcomes you into Bretman Rock’s world–from how his childhood in the Philippines, his family, Filipino culture, and being a first-generation immigrant helped shape him into who he is today. Sometimes, it’s just to record a dream I had the night before; other times, it’s just what I’m going to eat that day. Bretman describes everything from growing up in the Philippines, immigrating to the United States as a first-generation immigrant of his family, and turning his *iconic* viral moment with his sister, Princess Mae, into a career that would forever transform his life. How can people who have influence over other people really ever learn anything if they get only positive feedback, if they get away with everything?

He drops a “biiitch” or a “giiirl” every few sentences, which makes it so entertaining to listen to.I’m very proud of being LGBTQ+ and Filipino, so it’s an honor to be a pretty face for both underrepresented communities.

With a combined following of over 45 million globally, you may recognize Bretman from his reality series, MTV's Following: Bretman Rock or his YouTube Originals limited series, 30 Days With: Bretman Rock. I think many authors like to "play God" with their books and make sure their perspective of life is the ONLY way to live and paint themselves as the best and most special human on Earth. With his signature honesty, this is an unfiltered and unprecedented look at what it means to be one of the first digital celebrities and that bitch--from dealing with cancel culture, drama and heartbreak, to what it means to love yourself and your community. But, unfortunately, I have to review this book based on what it is (and not what I wanted it to be); and in that lens, this is a wildly lackluster memoir.

There are so many other topics I want to get into that come up in this, but I want to leave the rest of the book for readers to interpret and enjoy for themselves! Plus, Asian Americans and Asian immigrants are increasingly facing hate and violence, so I’m passionate about helping create more positive visibility for us— especially for brown Asians—I n entertainment, beauty and fashion. I'm so glad I decided to read this, it goes into details about the life and lessons learned along the way in a very humorous and easy-to-read way. Peek into how Bretman became a social media sensation at the precocious age of 14, balancing living a glamorous jet-setting lifestyle on weekends while still serving lunch at his school's cafeteria, running as a varsity track-star, and making honor roll during the week. Honestly he is one unproblematic social media presence and I really enjoy his content for that reason.

One of my favourite discussions he makes is between Eastern and Western views on fair skin, and how it spoke to his own experiences growing up. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. It seems that there is an intrinsic relationship between lesbianism and masculinity for Rock, and while there are lesbians who claim that description, it’s not something Rock can. You're That B*tch welcomes you into Bretman Rock's world—from how his childhood in the Philippines, his family, Filipino culture, and being a first-generation immigrant helped shape him into who he is today.I was a little hesitant at first to read a book published by an influencer but I am so glad that I snatched it off the shelf anyways. EDIT (04/27): I’m surprised this keeps getting comments and activity… I understand everyone’s opinions (and the fact that yes, the editorial choices were purposeful)… but I didn’t like it!

His writing style is the same as if he were talking - as if he was in the room telling me these stories. Being a Filipino-American myself, I genuinely felt like I was reading a life memoir from a best friend, and it was inspiring to see someone from my culture achieve such monumental and groundbreaking moments at such a young age. I bought the physical book to support him but I listened to the audiobook and that’s truly the way to go so you feel every “BITCH! But there are only so many disparaging comments about lesbians and tactless editorial choices that a reader can take. My impulsive, spontaneous posts— taken while beating my face, donning corsets and pearls, working out, unboxing, eating breakfast cereal, jumping off my roof, whatevah the day may bring— are watched by millions globally and have led to some of my wildest dreams coming true. The lingo used may not be understood by some readers unless u hv been a follower or watched hs videos.
