There is a fair amount of toilet humour, this time in the form of hamster poo and that is sure to win a lot of children's hearts. After the drama teacher casts him as the villain in the school play, Loki starts to wonder whether there's any point in being good when everyone seems convinced of his villainy. This book, like the others before, is perfect for the middle grade audience it is intended for, but any adult reader won’t be the least bit bored if they happen to take a peek between the covers, too. Loki is the series protagonist - the most chaotic god of Norse mythology, who has been banished to live on earth as a normal child who also has to go to school. Stowell balances humor with emotional depth, without ever falling into the expositional trope of people simply sitting and talking about their feelings.

She's the author of the bestselling LOKI: A BAD GOD's GUIDE series, about the norse god Loki as a mortal child. Perfect for helping kids (and adults) learn more about the nature of envy, empathy and it what it actually means to be. The Loki series is a real favourite of mine and one I am constantly recommended to children and families as they are accessible to even the most reluctant of readers.

When Heimdall and Hyrrokkin abandon their "children" to go on holiday, Odin sends Baldur - Thor's half brother and god of making Loki look bad - to babysit.Another fabulously funny read from Louie Stowell, this time with a very clever exploration of good/evil and empathy! Wry, witty and very funny diary-style story packed with doodles and comic strips about the frustration trickster god Lok. In each book, Loki must face the challenges of any ordinary 11-year-old, and the results are knee-slappingly, tear-inducingly hilarious! Loki is, as ever, just trying to be good, but when a cursed item reaches his possession, can he resist wanting to be king of the world?

I often worry he's going to 'age out' he already is disappointed that I have gone from knowing 'everything about star wars and hanging with Max Rebo' to not having seen the latest Mandalorian. The glorious illustrations go hand in hand with the witty story and make this series something special. My 11 year old absolutely loves this whole series of Loki stories, the only downside is she's read them all so quickly! I remember this age when I wanted comics read to me at bedtime but my dad always insisted on reading something more grown up.Louie Stowel totally gets school children’s humour and I marvel at her whip smart one liners and hilarious situations. A ring that looks suspiciously like the cursed ring of Andvari, one that promises Loki the world if only he gives in to his deepest, darkest desires.

When Heimdall and Hyrrokkin abandon their “children” to go on holiday, Odin sends Baldur – Thor’s half brother and god of making Loki look bad – to babysit. This series is the one that convinced my son that reading could be fun […] These books are my 'go to' for recommendations for friends' children. To make things worse, Fartface Thor is to be the hero of the school play, while Loki has to play the villain. Life's tough for trickster god Loki, banished to earth in the body of an eleven-year-old boy with thunder god Thor for company.By submitting a review you grant us the right to display and use it in any way; please read our General Legal Notices for full details. Loki might not have shown any moral improvement (yet) but Odin has given him another chance to prove himself worthy of A. After the drama teacher casts him as the villain in the school play, Loki starts to wonder whether there’s any point in being good when everyone seems convinced of his villainy.
