About this deal
After Nathan's retirement, his son moved the company to a new location in New Hampshire, where he focused on producing tough, waterproof boots for ravages of time. Within no time, the company developed durable, comfortable and water-resistant boots. The boots were made in Canada and sold in the US by Vermont-based Dunham Company. The Swartzes were determined to develop their own better version. In the 1960s, Timberland introduced an innovative injection-moulding technology that revolutionised the shoe industry by developing the first waterproof, high-quality boots. The water-resistant Timberland was made specifically for blue-collar workers and army-navy stores.
