The mad scientist theme relying on drugs and mental manipulation very much has more of a pulp feel than the superhero/sci-fi themes that dominated the Silver Age. All in all this book is worth every penny, and I look forward to sharing it with future generations.By my count, there are almost exactly the issues needed to make three more silver age volumes before we get to the “new look Batman,” which started in mid 1964. His autobiography, Batman and Me, was published in 1989, and in 1996 he was inducted into the Eisner Awards Hall of Fame. By the end of the 1960s, however, the fad had faded; in 1969, the best-selling comic book in the United States was not a superhero series, but the teen-humor book Archie.
