About this deal

Bernard is known for bringing everyday carry out of obscurity and into the mainstream, having been published or featured in various publications such as GQ, TIME Magazine, The New York Times, VICE, HYPEBEAST, Outside, and many others. He has also played a part in curating, designing, and developing digital and physical products, resulting in successful crowdfunding projects or limited edition collaboration products with established softgoods brands. He stays on the pulse of the EDC industry by attending trade shows, participating in online interest communities, and actively engaging with fellow gear enthusiasts on social media. Most of the time, first-time owners like to go with the Free P2 version because of its lighter structure.

Every other full-size Leatherman has a ruler stamped into the body, but the Free has a very short, useless ruler printed on a bit. But wait, the Free has the same type of edge that the Wave/Charge have it stamped on. Won’t a printed rule rub off but a stamped one won’t? Just more proof of hipster status here. The printed on rule is more noticeable even though it’s almost useless. Free P2 is one of the best things that you can get your hands on if you are not just looking for some pliers but want an all-in-one tool to get you through most of the tough corners out there. Both of these systems bring incredible utility to the owners, and you will enjoy years of consistent performance from tools. Everything I’ve tried works as advertised. And many of these tools have been a part of the Leatherman tool family for decades, so they ought to work well.

Different Colors– As of right now the Free P4 is only available in stainless steel. It’s likely Leatherman will offer more color options as they work out any kinks in the Free series manufacturing process. We’re proud to stand behind every product that leaves our factory in Portland, Oregon. That’s why we offer our 25-year warranty, so you can be confident your Leatherman lasts for a lifetime of use.

The advances don’t stop there. Instead of the sometimes frustrating thumb pull tabs commonly used on multi tools Leatherman included a magnetic release system. This allows you to easily fan out the tools on either handle of the Free P4 and choose the one you need. The only part [the FREE] shares with anything else is the wire-cutting inserts for the jaw and the jaw rivet,” said design engineer Adam Lazenby. “The moral of the story is that this tool has the most original content since the very first Leatherman tool.”Along with founder Stephen Regenold and Editorial Director Sean McCoy, Ruggiero graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Journalism. He was the recipient of the 2022 Outdoor Media Summit “Editor of the Year” award, and regularly co-hosts the industry’s “Gear Guide” at both summer and winter Outdoor Retailer trade shows.

Many multitools on the market today suffer from flex under duress – a situation where the arms of the pliers begin to twist under torsion. Though there is some give when you squeeze the arms, there is no twisting under strain. This can be accredited to the pliers themselves, which were completely redesigned to combat this issue as well as to be more streamlined to access tighter spaces. The Leatherman free P2 and P4 are two such great models that you will be enjoying for sure, and there is hardly a thing to be missing on these. Everything is a little easier to access and use but you probably don’t need to run out and buy a Free P4 if you’re already happy with your Surge, Wave+, or Charge TTi. This is especially true given the premium price of the P4.There is no such thing as one perfect unit for all jobs. You will have to carefully judge what type of tools will best complement your work and then move forward from there. Both are pretty much the same in size and pricing as well. So, it all goes down to the needs you might have. The Leatherman Free P4 is a great multi tool on its own. As anyone who’s ever owned a multi tool can tell you though, there’s always an accessory or add on that will make it a bit better.

I’m not a fan of fidget spinners — waste of money if you ask me. But after using Leatherman’s new FREE multitool (launching this month), I can certainly see some of the appeal. With the Free series Leatherman sought to once again revolutionize the multi tool world. Overall we think they did a pretty good job of it. The Free P4 in particular is one of the easiest multi tools to open and use that we’ve ever seen. Boatworld UK was established in 1969 and is one of the industry leaders in the Boating, Outboards & Watersports sector. You won’t break your nails anymore, this has never happened to me or any Leatherman owner I’ve ever known, including women. It looks pretty much the same, and with one look, you might be confusing it with the Free P2 at times.

However, some owners might claim that the increased number of tools on the P4 is better for robust projects.
