I have been debating on what to rate this one and settled on a 3.5. Don't let that put you off this book, because I enjoyed it. I just had a few too many little niggles with it to give it a higher rating. This isn't the first book I've read that uses cellular memory as a plot point, and I find the idea of it quite fascinating. This book dealt with it in a very different way than the others I've read. Look up cellular memory with transplant patients if you're curious! It's the idea of people that have received an organ transplant changing habits, tastes, sexuality, and even blood types! The author actually references some real reported instances in this story. You don't have to believe it, but it's interesting reading all the same.

The premise of the story is well thought out, well written and emotional for all parties. I found myself Googling this Cellular Memory for any latest thoughts in this area. The plot is a classic, which is why it has to be done particularly well and ideally with a creative twist to set it apart from the rest - sadly, this version just didn't have that. There seemed to be a lot more text than was necessary, as well as some stilted dialogue between characters that didn't endear me to the book and left me wondering whether or not to even continue at 30% in. Now go downstairs again and try exit the cabin. You’ll be stopped by an unknown man who asks if you got his note. There were a couple of question marks over the exchange of drugs, but its minor details compared to how the story was told and the impact it has on its reader.
