With Sennheiser’s IEMs, you get a Bluetooth connector that works with any of Shure’s MMCX earphones and supports SBC, AAC, aptX, and aptX Low Latency streaming. The anodized metal housings are corrosion-resistant and feature uniquely slim nozzles that make the earbuds comfortable during long listening sessions. I’ve referenced Etymotic’s ‘high accuracy’ house sound several times in this review, so it’s only fair to ask what sonic characteristics define that sound.

They were not hot or sibilant in any way, and would be good for long listening sessions without being fatigued. There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain. I think those who’ve tried and enjoyed the ER2SE’s sound will likely want to step up to the ER4SR at some point in their lives – the improvement is certainly not negligible. This concern manifests itself in Etymotic’s commitment to building earphones offering extremely high (35dB – 42dB) levels of noise isolation.Using the foam tips mitigates this somewhat— they level the upper frequencies out and make a better case for using them as a treble reference, but the foams don't resolve the matter entirely. Another way to maintain the headset and protect your ears from infection is by frequently cleaning and replacing the ear tips. This will never be the basshead’s dream and maybe the ER3XR/2XR fits the title better if we’re talking about a “bassy” Etymotic IEM.

If you are someone who cares about audio quality deeply, you'll want a pair of earphones/IEMs like these.Meanwhile, Etymotic have kept the aesthetic design of their products more or less consistent since the 90s.

What Etymotic is offering is the listener the ability to tune their Etymotic ER series earphones to their own tastes and hearing profile. Due to their accurate sound reproduction, flat sound signature headphones are preferred by Music professionals, Sound Engineers and used in professional studios for mixing and mastering music tracks and are also loved by audiophiles for immersive listening sessions. The treble crashes, strings, etc, have slightly more body, but seem to be missing some micro definition.

These offer the ultimate convenience, but we believe that if you care about an immersive listening experience and audio quality, these are not for you!
