About this deal

As much as Jenny is a feral soul she holds a deeply rooted connection to her community in the highlands of Scotland where she lives amongst her family and friends, including her now grown up son Lachlan. After a couple of half decent UK road seasons racing for Leisure Lakes, she went out to Belgium to sample the racing there and spent two years with Lotto-Belisol Ladies team, racing alongside the likes of Sara Carrigan, Grace Verbeke, Rochelle Gilmore and Lizzie Deignan. Sehr sympa geschrieben, flüssig zu lesen, auch wenn man im Laufe des Buches immer öfter den Kopf schüttelt über "die verrückte Schottin", während sie immer schwächer und müder wird. I found myself rooting for her throughout her varying challenges in new cultures, with her slowly deteriorating body and in the internal resistance she so often triumphed over. Whether it’s being shepherd around some bears on the road or putting her trust in mechanics to overhaul her bike hours before she is to set out again, Jenny seems to always have it together.

I used a variety of different methods to trick my brain into sitting still and being productive on a screen. She has travelled the world racing and touring in grass roots back-packing events and continues explorations with her role as a presenter on Global Cycling Network's documentary channel. I de-caffeinated myself for a couple of weeks at a time, then allowed myself to only have coffee away from the cabin – which meant I’d go for a ride. In 2018, over the course of 18,000 miles, amateur cyclist Jenny Graham smashed the round-the-world cycling record by nearly three weeks, finishing in 124 days and 11 hours. Less relatable were some of the wildlife come across and the sheer incredible physical feat of riding around the planet in 124 hours. She’d been in my life for only four months, but during that time we had battled through snowstorms, crossed mountain ranges, skirted coastlines and spent every evening and weekend together, testing each other to the maximum as we trained and prepared for the Round the World project. With a natural, chatty and engaging style that effuses who Jenny is, this is down-to-earth storytelling of her extraordinary ride .

Over thousands of hours of solo riding and frequently in bad weather, she captures plenty of emotions and memories along the route in her writing, photos and the audio snippets broadcast to supporters back home in Scotland.for Coffee First, Then the World - Jenny Grahams epic world record breaking solo, unsupported cycle around the world. As she battles physical and mental challenges to race against the clock, Jenny gradually opens up to the joy of the adventure and all its daily discoveries.
