About this deal

Also, I'd recommend using it with a timer switch, that way you could use an awkward wall plug up without having to fumble behind your furniture to switch it on or off. If you use the thermostat it does maintain a steady temperature - this works better than I expected. Living in Isle of Skye (Highlands) our central heating is by oil and we have a small wood burner in the lounge.

Bought it just over a year ago but it has only had a couple of days (non continuous) use when I first got it just to test it as it was bought just in reserve in case an existing heater failed. Thoroughly recommend this machine - it's silent in operation and pretty compact BUT (there's always a 'but') why is there no indication that this machine is painted in what is best described as 'Battleship' grey and not white? The trick is to use them only when needed and to keep them set as low as possible to keep comfortable. The main body of the radiator is encased in a surrounding second outer shell, creating a chimney-like space in between the two. Air is drawn in at the bottom, heated by the main radiant heat of the radiator and then expelled at the top. This means that the air produced is hotter (by up to 10 degrees centigrade) and ejects up to 40% faster. The innovative and exclusive design of the Vento VV550920 from De'Longhi gives high performance at exceptional value for money.

With 2 kW of heat output, the Vento is perfect for smaller rooms or for boosting existing heat sources around the home. Within my 18x12 room I tend to use setting 3 for the first 10 minutes to warm things up quickly, and then turn to setting 2 with stat on max to maintain room heat. I don't mind so much if the smell is normal, though I don't find it particularly nice, was just worried it might indicate a fault as I have two other oil filled heaters (Swan branded) and these don't smell at all. Electric radiators (all of them) are pretty much 100% efficient, so turn all of the electrical energy in to heat. This took longer to heat up, but once warmed up provided more heat than my original 2kWh Argos jobby. On first turn on, it does give off a not particularly bad, but strange smell, almost like a new plastic smell when you first turn on new electronics. All that the kWh rating dictates is how much energy can be input into heating the oil to a desired temperature. Have a very cold bedroom in our stone-built cottage that measures 4x4 metres with a 'cathedral' ceiling and needed a supplementary heater for the oil-fired central heating which is not on all the time.

A higher rating will obviously heat the oil to peak temperature faster, but once reached much less energy is generally needed to maintain oil temperature. Obviously it's better design outweighed the bigger heating element, and I ended swapping the rads between rooms.Made to be used over longer periods of time compared with inferior radiators, the Vento uses diathermic oil to release heat gradually, while a chimney effect strongly pushes the outgoing airflow, making the air hotter and circulate around the room more.

The Vento V550920 Oil-Filled Radiator by De'Longhi is an essential item to have when the temperature drops, providing comfort and warmth to any room. Its variable thermostat has frost protection and a choice of three heat settings, with a safety cut out switch to prevent it from overheating. This convective effect increases the speed at which the room is heated, in addition to the radiant heat produced. I use it in my bedroom with an electrical plug-in thermostat which has been a very good economical set-up.Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). I read quite a few reviews before deciding upon this one; what I definitely didn't want is a radiator that pinks and creaks when its warming up and cooling down.
