Spicier and fresher at first, darker and woodier (mostly vetiver and nutmeg) on the drydown, with a silky “fil rouge” of gentle leather and flowers (I definitely get carnation and rose) providing a really palpable feel of mannered luxury and sophistication. I bought 4 while I could and when ever I spray it on, it lingers in the room and its like smelling spices at Christmas, woody aromatic and yet fresh. Dunhill Edition is a distinctively fresh scent with a sensation of texture, warmth, and masculinity. The middle notes are Lily-of-the-Valley, clary sage, cyclamen, geranium, jasmine and carnation which provide a floral scent.

So think spicy at the beginning, woodsy at the middle and end, but maybe it's just my nose but I don't detect any floral fragrances at all! For one thing, I imagine that a lot of users have old bottles of perfume that has gradually intensified through evaporation, so that what people are eulogising are sometimes not actually the older formulations as sold.

It's a discreet fragrance but a persistent one in that you will be able to smell it over it's long life.

I think I would have to purchase a bottle and truly get a spray rather than a dabber to see how this fragrance spreads. The fragrance opens up with notes of lemon and bergamot which melts into the warm heart of coriander and nutmeg.I'm working out of a small splash sample bottle of this, but based on what I smell, how in the world would this be compared with Guerlain Vetiver, Bijan, or Oscar for Men (1999)? Dunhill Edition, a masculine fragrance, embodies the sophistication and elegance that has come to be synonymous with the brand.

These bottles have only Dunhill printed on the glass bottom, no Edition printed under Dunhill and only on the black cap does it state Dunhill Edition. In my opinion, Dunhill probably should not have re-launched this fragrance if it was not going to stick to the original formula (which was brilliant!Edition epitomises masculine refinement, with fresh top notes of bergamot and lemon giving way to a warming heart of coriander, basil and nutmeg. I am trying this today is a sample and I like the opening notes which are very fresh but have a slight woodsy/spicy smell to them. I have about a 1/3 bottle of the old version and it spreads its fragrance just passing by it without even moving the bottle. UPDATE: It is now Winter (December) up here in Minnesota and the scent is really smelling a lot better to me in this weather. The old formulation opened with a fresh spicy citrus which was quite strong then it got woody and mossy in the dry down.

Edition is so unique, green soap like, herbal and has a maturity about it but very odd at the same time. Cosmopolitan Cosmetics was formed in 1997, when it brought together its various fragrance brands and licenses.I have been a big fan of Dunhill Edition for many years as was very unhappy they discontinued the line.
