About this deal

Until Blake happens upon something he doesn’t like but that he tries to encourage the dragon to eat it…Unfortunately the 3 year old absolutely loves broccoli so doesn’t need any encouragement but he did really like this story although I found it a strange mix of storylines. Then Blake hatches a little dragon who wants to fly but to do that he needs to grow a little bit bigger, which means Blake has to find him something to eat. To do that, Blake and his little friends have to find out what food the little dragon likes and that is not easy, because he doesn’t seem to like anything! It’s written in a natural style, like conversational storytelling, no rhyming phrases (which I do also love, and so do kids, eg the Snail and the Whale is a family favourite).

We’re a huge fan of Rachel Suzanne’s illustrations in our house, and bought My Little Dragon for my nephew’s birthday. I liked the way Blake hugs his friends to make them feel better and the way he goes about trying to find a food that the little dragon likes is going to be very relatable to any parents or caregivers who are reading along with young readers. I was first interested in this book because whenever I see Rochelle Humes on TV she seems such a lovely, down to earth, genuine kind of person, and I wondered if her book had the same kind of feel.
