About this deal

Here we have runaway homeless bride appears in small town and conveniently gets everything handed to her by hero man child Knox & is told she is the best thing that ever happened to him ,even though she constantly gets herself in to trouble and needs things.

The writing- incredible. Flawless. I just loved the banter between Knox and Naomi so much. The dialogue was spot on with this one. The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk. The pacing was not for me. It was very insta-lovey just without them admitting it. I didn't feel the tension the characters were apparently experiencing and that really just turns me off the book. IF I DON'T FEEL THE TENSION, I DON'T WANT IT :) The following version of this book was used to create the guide: Score, Lucy. Things We Never Got Over. Bloom Books, 2022.

Enter Lina, his new neighbor in town on assignment. She is a traveling large-claims insurance agent. She is a non-committal type who is a bit of a wild child and has no interest in settling down. One thing I loved about Things We Never Got Over is that Knox was 43 years old. As a fortysomething myself, I especially notice that the majority, if not all, of the books I read in the romance genre, focus on characters in their 20s or early 30s. Kudos to Score for making her leading man a bit older and therefore more relatable to people in my age category.Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. He doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride. The heroine, I liked her, but I would have loved to see her more settled into her own and knowing exactly who she is and what she wants by the end of the book. She does make some decisions but I still feel like she lets the events that happened to her and the people in her life derail most of her individual and personal decisions. He bared his teeth and I wondered if I imagined the low, dangerous growl. “You just keep pushing my buttons.” “And you just keep pissing me off.” This story does end with a HEA for the couple, and Knox did make an effort to change towards the end, but it was a little too late for me. We all have hang-ups, but it doesn’t mean we go through life as a jerk. I felt he was emotionally abusive, controlling, and passive-aggressive.

A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way.Well, technically he thought I was Tina [the twin sister] when he was yelling at me in front of an entire cafe full of strangers.” Not to mention the way his body doesn’t stop reacting to HER body whenever she’s near… but then again, this might not be a bad thing either 👀. He might want commitment, and she might be afraid of it, but sometimes, the body wants what it wants 🤷🏻‍♀️😅😉. And the spice, well, if you like it… it’s very much there. This was, at its core, a romance of two unlikely people, and the witty supporting cast that surrounded them was more than entertaining. I couldn't stand the hero or the heroine. Naomi is a perfect goody-two shoes, so beautiful that every single guy has a hard-on for her, so nice that any person who talks to her instantly wants to be her friend. Her fatal flaw is that she cares too much and no one ever cares about her in return. Yawn. unrealistic dialogue from the male friends of hero who literally stage an intervention trying to convince H that shes the best thing that ever happened to him

the smeeex. Well, duh, I needed to comment on it 🤷🏻‍♀️. The buildup was delicious 🤤 and oh so worth it. That counter and those walls didn’t see them coming 😉. What’s a refractory period? Nash doesn’t know what it is 🥵thank God for small miracles 😮‍💨 I almost forgot that one of Knox's main character traits is that he won the lottery. And when it's first mentioned, they talk about how Knox was smart with his money and didn't blow it all on random things, so he's still a millionaire today. But throughout the entire book, Knox is so stupid with money. He quite literally throws his money at people to buy their affection. He likes to use his money to try and control people and resorts to bribery to get his way. And I'm supposed to believe this is a guy who is smart and benevolent with his money? Nope. One other criticism I have and seem to share with other readers is that Nash and Lina fall hard and fast for one another but don’t have many scenes where they are really talking and getting to know one another. I simply got the impression that these two characters did not know much about one another apart from mind-blowing sex.Grumpy, small-town barber + hopelessly romantic runaway bride = great big bust ups, all the tension and lots of steamy encounters! Lucian and Sloane were by far the most anticipated couple to read about, and their story certainly did not disappoint. Some popular tropes used in this book are enemies-to-lovers, small-town romance, and childhood love. (Revealing more tropes may spoil the plot!)
