From the app you can choose what music you want to play in a variety of ways. You can stream music directly from your smartphone or tablet – but really you’re better off using your device as a controller. If you have a TV over 50in, I’d recommend stepping up to the DM75 or DM100. Another option not officially supported by Sonos, is to connect all your devices via their optical output to an optical switch. This can be advantageous since some TVs don’t pass through exactly what they are sent. For example they may downsample 5.1 Dolby Digital to stereo. If you only have a Sky box connected to your TV, I’d connect directly from the Sky box to the Playbar to ensure any 5.1 content is played correctly. Canton's DM100 isn’t just a larger version of the more junior models with more drivers – two tweeters, four midrange and four bass drivers – and more power (200W). I have tested my SK10Y with rears and have no lip sync issues with my Apple TV 4K, Shield TV and Nintendo switch when they are connected directly to my LG B8. I currently connect my Shield straight to the soundbar so I receive lossless audio (TrueHD ATMOS) and connected my Apple TV 4K direct to TV which I can receive lossy DD+ with Atmos with Netflix and iTunes. Highs are clear and sharp, but amid new competition can teeter on the edge of brightness at volume. It’s not uncomfortable, but it does add to the slight feeling of fragility when compared to the likes of the Solo 15 and Geneva Model Cinema. All of the issues do the exact same thing on my daughters tv so it can surely only be the soundbar as that's what the devices are connected to?? I've tried three full sets of hdmi cables in addition to two separate TV's and still have the same input issues. The bar is running the latest firmware and I've also reset it. Watching movies with this seems far better experience than when I had my floorstanders there is a vast amount of detail and clarity. I’m satisfied with this soundbar especially with Atmos, the heights are really good and you can hear the separation it’s not to front heavy especially when you have the rears which is a must when watching 7.1 or Atmos. DD 5.1 is decent as well the soundbar can create a faux virtual Atmos sound which gives great atmosphere. I had a Samsung MS650 before and the SK10Y has a much wider sound, the only thing I wish it had was a little higher and balanced centre volume for voices, even after the update, because the music and effects can get loud compared to people speaking, also I wish they update to DTS X but that looks like not happening since the new models this year are having them. On hdmi 2 on the bar the blu ray player intermittently displays that horrible static image I sent a video of last time or Displays no image at all. The devices work fine when plugged straight into the tv but there's lipsync issues via arc which you can't adjust sufficiently so it's in sync.
Resist the urge to push the bass level up to 3 and you’ll enjoy seamless, non-directional bass that doesn’t sound boomy. Switching from stereo to surround mode, I noticed the soundstage opening up and spreading beyond the physical dimensions of the unit. That’s all you can really ask for from a virtual surround mode, unless you start dabbling in pricey beam-projection technology. The Canton doesn’t come close to true surround, nor did we expect it to. Joining the Stereo and DTS TruSurround from previous models is a new Voice mode that gives speech frequencies a boost, and a Hotel mode that lets you set a maximum volume limit.
