About this deal

I am always baffled when a tv series or movie changes things around even though it's based on a book that people have presumably read before the show or movie comes out. I have to say in this case, I liked the book much better than the television show. I always though the episode this book was based on felt really off, and now I know why. I thought the writing and flow of this one was much better than prior books and I loved the insights into Vera made by not only her team, but by suspects in this case. Very interesting episode as Vera and Joe endeavor to find out why anyone would want to kill this old lady, whom they learn is named Margaret. It turns out that she has quite a past, and also a friendship with another woman, Dee (Tilly Vosburgh), an alcoholic Margaret helps. Weekly Top 10 Programmes: ITV+1 w/e 5 April 2015". Broadcasters' Audience Research Board . Retrieved 18 April 2015. The second episode of series 12 is called For the Grace of God and sees the action switch to Newcastle, as a decorated soldier finds himself sleeping rough on the streets of the city centre, with the area in and around the Quayside seen in teaser shots for the episode, which will air on ITV1 on Sunday, February 5. Other locations in the episode includes the Staithes estate in Dunston and Newcastle's famous Lit and Phil library. The last thing Detective Joe Ashworth expects when taking his daughter Jessie Christmas shopping, is that she will find a dead body on the Metro. Margaret Krukowsky had been a long-term resident at Harbour House, but even those who spent time with her, know almost nothing about her. Only when a second woman dies, do the facts start to come forward, and put Jessie in danger.

Cleeves expertly handles the interplay among Vera - outsized both in stature and personality - her staff, and the villagers... You don't have to be a fan of the TV show...to enjoy this top-notch police procedural." Chief Investigator Owen Preece (Robert Glenister) reveals John’s business manager Mark Donovan (Tim Dantay) has been running a booze scam through their haulage firm. John agreed to offer information in exchange for immunity from prosecution. Was his cover blown? Owen doesn’t think so. And Mark has an alibi…unlike John’s wife, caught on camera near his city flat the night of his death. Stella continues to insist their marriage was a good one ‐ so why was John Shearwood no longer living in the family home? And who is she hiding from the police? Weekly Top 30 Programmes: ITV w/e 29 April 2012". Broadcasters' Audience Research Board. Archived from the original on 15 December 2012 . Retrieved 8 May 2012. Brenda Blethyn and co-star Kenny Doughty being protected from the elements on Tynemouth beach (Image: Owen Humphreys/PA Media)A man, outwardly happily married, is discovered in the river with his shoe laces tied together suggesting suicide until the post mortem confirms murder. The victim was an informant for Revenue and Customs, on a case regarding the smuggling of alcohol which widens the suspects from family to include his business associates. Filming of the first episode of series 10 had finished by May 31 then by July they were halfway through the whole series and other locations since then included Port of Tyne international passenger terminal in North Shields which, eagle-eyed viewers might recall, featured in a previous episode of Vera in 2017. The "island" seen in this episode isn't actually and island at all. It's what is known as Church Hill, which in reality is just at the other side of the Aln Estuary.

One of the first sightings of Vera was at a gym in Gateshead - or rather in the snooker hall above Low Fell Life Gym - where Blethyn was inside filming while location vans took up space in its car park. The scene is just before Christmas on crowded train when Margaret Krukowski, an elderly elegantly dressed woman, is stabbed to death. Yet, it seems no-one saw the murderer, even though Joe and his daughter Jessie were there on the train at the time. Weekly Top 10 Programmes: ITV HD w/e 20 May 2012". Broadcasters' Audience Research Board . Retrieved 28 May 2012. Filming for that had been first noticed in Tynemouth in September 2020 where Blethyn - masked up between scenes - was seen, together with Vera's familiar Land Rover, in Beach Road and Broadway. In the opening episode, called Witness, the story started with the finding of a body at the base of Collingwood Monument. The body of Lisa Millworth, an HR advisor of a local turbine company, is washed up on the banks of the River Tyne. Vera and her team discover a mountain of lies as told by Lisa's family regarding both their own and Lisa's whereabouts and their knowledge of the incident. Clare Calbraith ( Rebecca Shepherd) & Paul Copley ( Malcolm Kenrich) also worked together on Downton Abbey (2010) as Jane Moorsum & Mr. Mason respectively. Weekly Top 30 Programmes: ITV w/e 1 May 2011". Broadcasters' Audience Research Board. Archived from the original on 15 December 2012 . Retrieved 2 July 2011. Arriving at the scene, DI Vera Stanhope is relieved to have an excuse to escape the holiday festivities. As she stands on the silent, snow-covered station platform, Vera feels a familiar buzz of anticipation, sensing that this will be a complex and unusual case.
